NoLimitz-UK Complete Design of HMS Exeter Shirt for 2009 Decomissioning

NoLimitz-Uk have now completed a unique shirt to coincide with the decommissioning of HMS Exeter. The shirt will be based around the Ships active service role and in particular the Falklands Conflict in which Exeter played a key role in Air Defensive Action. Each Shirt will come complete in a Blue box to commemorate the only blue bottom boat in the fleet. The shirt incorporates the following:-

RN-005-08

ROYAL NAVY EXETER THE FAITHFUL – FULL ON

This is a unique design to celebrate the British Royal Navy Destroyer, HMS Exeter. The design was created to celebrate the type 42 destroyers South Atlantic Campaign in 1982. In particular, the battle for the Falklands Islands. The centre piece is the famous RED LION standing proud with one leg on each of the two Islands that make up the Falkland’s. The Lion is facing outwards in a defensive position and ready to strike. This emblem was at the forefront of all of the previous five Exeter warships. The crowned Lion with Orb will be an eternal reminder to everyone of one of the last great naval engagements of our age. The conventional crown on the lion is replaced with a Victorian crown to honor the Captain of the Exeter during the Falklands campaign. He was awarded the MVO.

The Anchor and chain around the Lion are a clear reminder of Exeter’s steadfast dedication to remain on task as a long range air defense unit. The Exeter’s role was to engage enemy planes before they reached the main battle group. The Exeter survived due to her professional crew and it goes without saying her Commanding Officer Capt. Hugh Balfour. Many of the crew still believe to this day that without his leadership and that of his team the ship would have been lost.

The design incorporates the Falklands Islands and the ships motto Semper Fidelis” translated to “Ever Faithful”

The Lions rear flank is clearly identified with the Royal Navy Ships Identification number D89 and the Anchor marker with the year 1982. In the bottom left hand corner of the image small flakes of snow can be seen to indicate the arduous conditions of the Islands when trying to fight a winter campaign.
