SPECIAL OCCASION – OPERATION RESPECT

About six years ago I had to make a business visit to the United States.. I ended up in Philadelphia and had to take the train. I walked into 30^th Street Station to be greeted by one of the most impressive remembrance statues I have even seen. The statue was of an Angel and a Soldier. The Inscription reads as follows:

front: In memory of the men and women of the Pennsylvania Railroad who laid down their lives for our country 1941-1945.

back: That all travelers here may remember those of the Pennsylvania Railroad who did not return from the Second World War.

On my return to England, I researched this statue and found it was 40ft high and cast in Bronze. The Artist was Walker Kirtland Hancock. We have modified the original upright wings to compliment the t-shirt design. Our design was sketched from old pictures. If you ever get the chance to see this magnificent statue than I suggest you go and see it. The original is a master piece. On the left of the Angel we have added the famous poem written by Theodore O’Hare titled the “Bivouac of the Dead”. We have only used two versus of this poem. You will find this poem in every US Military Cemetery.

On the back of the Shirt we have added a small tribute Poppy with the a famous versus from the poem “For the Fallen” written by Laurence Binyon.
